Which is the position of the moving object when the central dot changes colour?

Despite this task seems simple, humans are pretty bad doing it. Variability in position reports can be characterised by a large amount of temporal imprecision of about 70 milliseconds. This corresponds to roughly 90 deg in this circular trajectory.

It is not well understood why then humans show high precision when interacting with fast moving objects in some situations like in sports.

Where is the moving object now? Judgments of instantaneous position show poor temporal precision (SD=70 ms). Linares, D., Holcombe, A.O., White, A. L. Journal of Vision, 9(13):9, 1-14.
